a left-field pop project from San Jose that blends their alternative-DIY-punk roots with internet culture and underground experimental music/art circles.
kiroshi (stylised in all lowercase letters) speaks to those who struggle with mental health issues and want to live life their own way even with the odds stacked against them.
kiroshi has recently released their debut album SPECTATOR. (stylised in all caps with a period at the end) which was written and produced from 2022 to 2026. The album's final form was influenced by the frequent usage of rehearsing and recording in their parents' garage. The atmosphere in the record is an auditory capture of how the songs felt in that space and letting the music be the focus with the black and white imagery and its strip of a race car-like yellow.
It is music about maintaining an idea of being human while growing up and living in this current world, unable to really do anything but be a spectator in. The world is still being built as they are working on short films and visuals for each song off the album, with the first being a "traditional" music video for CORNERSTONE.
Their live show is just as essential to the album's world building, where the audio becomes a live emotional experience in real time.
